Western Harbour Tunnel Work update

Date published: 4 Apr 2022

Early work is progressing on the Western Harbour Tunnel, with activities including geotechnical investigations on land and in Sydney Harbour, and installation of groundwater monitoring wells. This work helps to inform the detailed design for the tunnel alignment.

This work is expected to be completed by late April 2022 (weather permitting). Regular groundwater monitoring will continue to take place for around two years.

Lower North Shore update

We recently delivered a Community update to the lower north shore as we continue our early work program to prepare for main work construction.

From May 2022, we expect to start carrying out temporary power installation work along Balls Head Road, Waverton to Hazelbank Road, Wollstonecraft. This work will provide temporary power to our Berrys Bay construction site to support main work activities. Work will be completed in stages, and residents will be provided more information in the coming weeks.

Temporary ferry service disruption, Birchgrove Wharf

We recently distributed a community notification advising to safely carry out marine investigations close to Birchgrove Wharf, the F8 (Cockatoo Island to Circular Quay) service will not be able to stop at Birchgrove Wharf from Monday 11 April 2022 for around three weeks. See map of work area below.

Customers are able to catch the 441 bus service (see map opposite), operating between Grove Street, Birchgrove and the QVB, to the city or to connect with other bus services on Victoria Road. The nearest wharf is Balmain Wharf.
